Living Stones Ministry: What We Do

The mission of Living Stones Ministry is to be used by God to build up His body, the Church, by providing software tools and building blocks:

  • to strengthen local churches,
  • to draw God's people into closer relationship,
  • and to help people connect God's Word into their everyday lives.

The name Living Stones has two meanings.

The main focus of the ministry is to create software building blocks used by web developers to strengthen their church and ministry websites. These building blocks are active and dynamic, thus the term "living stones" is appropriate.

The second meaning of the name Living Stones is relative to 1 Peter 2:5 which refers to God's people as living stones, being built up as a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood. It is our hope that every product of our ministry will be used to build up God's people in this way.

Living Stones Ministry is currently focused on creating three types of products and services:

Building Blocks
Software components that can easily be added to any web page (running on a server supporting PHP and MySQL) to add dynamic content and functionality to the website.
Web Services
Services that respond to queries from programs from websites so that content (e.g. Bible passages) can dynamically be added to those other websites without requiring all possible content (e.g. the entire Bible) to be stored on those websites.
Portals
Web sites operated by Living Stones to both demonstrate the capabilities of Living Stones building blocks and web services, and to provide specific value in helping Christians deepen their relationships and connect the Bible into their everyday lives.
